TMD treatment at the Center is one of Dr. Frascella’s main areas of emphasis. Many symptoms of TMD can be related to the manner in which your teeth come together (your occlusion), the position of the upper portion of the mandible and the status of the muscles as they work to bring everything together. By utilizing the principles of neuromuscular dentistry Dr. Frascella will determine if your TMD has a neuromuscular cause. If that is the case then, with the use of advanced technology he can create a treatment plan specifically for you. Typically, treatment will consist of the construction of a orthotic (similar to a mouthguard). The orthotic will help to reposition your jaw to help relieve the muscle stress. One of the unique advantages of this treatment program is that symptoms are often resolved within a few short days, without having to actually alter any tooth structure or anatomy.
